We are searching for:
  • Kindergarten Classroom Teacher for Sunday Mornings
  • 1st Grade Classroom Teacher for Sunday Mornings
  • 2nd Grade Classroom Teacher for Sunday Mornings
  • 6th Grade Classroom Teacher Wednesdays in person/ Sundays virtual
  • 7th Grade Classroom Teacher for Wednesday Afternoons
  • Hebrew Reading Support Teachers
  • More positions may become available based on enrollment. 
Our program runs on Wednesday afternoons from 4:15-6:30pm and Sunday mornings from 9:00-11:30am. Teachers must arrive 15 minutes before class. The academic year starts September 7, 2025.
General responsibilities: 
  • Collaborate with school administration and other faculty members to create innovative and meaningful Jewish learning experiences, both in and out of the classroom. 
  • Prepare creative, interactive lessons as part of a well-structured curriculum.
  • Regularly communicate with families outside of school hours. 
     
As a member of our faculty, you will: 
  • Provide a sense of caring and concern that enables our students to support one another and challenge them to grow as individuals and members of a Jewish Community. 
  • Inspire students and their families to actively engage in an active Jewish life. 
  • Receive mentoring to grow as an educator as part of a staff of reflective practitioners. 
Ideal candidates have the following qualifications: 
  • Experience teaching students in elementary grades in a formal or informal setting. 
  • Comfortable teaching via Google Meet in an engaging manner
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills. 
  • Ability to teach Hebrew, Bible, Jewish history, and holidays incorporating arts, drama, movement or media. 
  • Comfortable teaching in a Conservative Jewish congregation to a diverse student body.

Early Childhood Teachers and Assistants Needed for 2025-2026 year

Early Childhood Teachers needed for the 2025-2026 school year in a loving child centered, play based Jewish environment fostering children’s development socially, emotionally, spiritually, cognitively, and physically while creating strong partnerships with families.

Responsibilities include collaboration with your teaching team to optimize engaging, hands-on experiences for the preschoolers, incorporate Jewish holidays, values and traditions into daily experiences, maintain strong, open communication with parents, collaborate professionally with co-workers, attend monthly staff meetings, and participate in a minimum of 15 hours of yearly professional development.

Qualifications: A minimum of two years’ experience as a Head Teacher in the field of early childhood education with a CDA, Bachelor degree in Early Childhood Education, and/or a Master’s degree in Education, in good physical health with the ability to move quickly and lift 40 lbs., dependable, flexible, enthusiastic, sensitive to the feelings and needs of others, eager to learn, excellent communication skills, high energy, yet calm, and a team player.

Preschool Teacher Assistants needed for the 2025-2026 school year. Do you love to sing, dance and play? Do you have an open and loving heart and mind and a desire to spend your time with two and three year old preschoolers in a developmentally appropriate, play based Jewish early childhood program?  If the answer is yes, then this is the job for you!

Responsibilities include collaboration with your teaching team to optimize experiences for the preschoolers, assisting the Head Teacher with the day to day classroom activities and preparing materials and supplies, attending monthly staff meetings, and  participating in a minimum of 15 hours of yearly professional development.

Cantor
 
Woodbury Jewish Center (WJC) Is a 35-year-old Egalitarian Conservative congregation with more than 500 members and 350 students enrolled in our Early Childhood and Religious School programs. Over the last five years, our membership has grown by nearly 35%, expanding in every demographic. We are situated in a hub of Jewish life on the north shore of Long Island.  WJC seeks a dynamic Cantor to partner with our young, energetic rabbi and lay leaders to continue this growth and maintain the individual sense of belonging, purpose, and connection that drive our membership.
Requirements:
  • Cantorial Investiture/Ordination
  • Performative vocal skills
  • Vocal lead for Shabbat, Holiday and High Holiday services
  • Deep knowledge of both traditional and contemporary Jewish music 
  • Excellent communicator (oral and written) who can effectively interact with clergy, lay leaders, teachers and congregants.
  • Skilled teacher to engage our Bar/Bat Mitzvah students and congregants
  • Engage our early childhood students and Religious School students in music
  • Torah reading          
  • Assist the Rabbi in pastoral duties including weekday Minyans, Shiva Minyans, Funerals, Bikur Cholim
  • Officiate at wedding ceremonies held at WJC when requested
Preferred Skills:
  • Pastoral care training (i.e. CPE or equivalent)
  • Instrumental skills (we do not use instruments on Shabbat and holidays) 
  • Experience in executive synagogue leadership
